On Thursday 28th of June 2012 we celebrated the opening of Something in the Attic at the top of a victorian building in the heart of London. As people mingled and champagne was served, we released an exclusive screen print created by David Shillinglaw and DJ Stavef created a soundtrack to the art. The evening went on and David gave a talk on the importance of art: not his art, but art as a medium for expressing one’s self.
On Friday 29th the Attic opened a little later, people dressed down and a different energy was in the air. DJs Stavef and Deux Spin were joined by Nicholas Feel, who broadcasts the radio show Silver Magic Airways from the Roundhouse. Whilst cocktails were being handed out the music transitioned from lounge to disco, and David began personalising the art sold on the evening. The party went on until 2am, with people dancing until the very end.
I would like to thank everyone who attended and helped make our first event a success. We raised £850 for Kith & Kids, a London-based disability charity (no. 1080972). The next Something in the Attic event is planned for October 2012, join our mailing list to ensure you don’t miss it!
