For our latest show, Cosmic Code we worked with British designers: David McFarline and Christopher Moorby of Commission to create a series of unique screen prints. They produced 5 different colour ways of Cosmic Code, a Post-Pop work designed to embody the style of both musicians Psychemagik and multidisciplinary artist Ari Russo. The print includes appropriated imagery from a classic book “Fairburn Figures” which advertising agencies referenced heavily in the 1970s. It plays on artwork from private press records which Psychemagik sample and collect, whilst the font used has a lo-fi ‘computer code’ relevant to Ari’s work. The live DJ set which Andrew Ashong played for us in December is now online for you to stream: an hour and a half of blissful jazz, soul, funk, brazilian, and boogie. The Vinyl Factory had the opportunity to catch up with Andrew prior to the release of his “Special EP”, you can read a Q&A with him here.
