The first “Something in the Attic” event will take place in Notting Hill, London on the 28th and 29th of June 2012, bringing together art, music and charity for 2 nights only.
The opening will mark the release of an exclusive screen print created by David Shillinglaw, whilst other works for sale will include original drawings and paintings curated specifically for the attic space. The art will be contextualised through a talk by David on his work and the urban art community. 50% of the art sales will go directly to Kith & Kids, a London-based charity focused on supporting people with disabilities. The money raised will go towards their Social Development Project to help these individuals develop key life and social skills, for example an art workshop will teach people with communication disabilities (such as autism) to express their feelings through drawing and painting.
While the art is intended to be the focal point of the event, no evening is complete without good music. The primary DJ we chose to work with is Stavef who has over 15 years experience in the music industry and most recently spent a year engineering the world famous Macaroon producer, Ladurée’s music across 4 continents and 14 countries. For the event he plans to bring together many styles of music: “The audience will be taken through a journey of everything from afrobeat to trip-hop.” Other DJs and special guests will be present on the 29th of June when you can expect a full-on party until the early hours of Saturday morning.
Entry is guest-list only, please RSVP to: firstname.lastname@example.org stating which date(s) you would like to attend.
